Blog Post Title Thirty-Nine

This poem is based on Psalm 111:10, Ecclesiastes 2:26, 3:11-14, Psalm 92, Romans 15:8-13, 6:20-23, Acts 3:19-21 and John 7:37-38:

Psalm 111:10 NIV

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.

Ecclesiastes 2:26 NIV

26 To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

Ecclesiastes 3:11-14 NIV

11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.

Psalm 92 NIV

A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day.

1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,2 proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,3 to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.4 For you make me glad by your deeds, LORD; I sing for joy at what your hands have done.5 How great are your works, LORD, how profound your thoughts!6 Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand,7 that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever.8 But you, LORD, are forever exalted.9 For surely your enemies, LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.10 You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured on me.11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries; my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;13 planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

Romans 15:8-13 NIV

8 For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed9 and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written: “Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing the praises of your name.”10 Again, it says, “Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people.”11 And again, “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles; let all the peoples extol him.”12 And again, Isaiah says, “The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; in him the Gentiles will hope.”13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 6:20-23 NIV

20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Acts 3:19-21 NIV

19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.

John 7:37-38 NIV

37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

I write spiritual poems, religious poetry, Christian verse. Everyone goes to a hearse. So, I point to the Word; terse soul traps snap out doubt.
